Strawberry Jam

Ingredients


  • 2 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled and mashed or halved, about 4 cups


  • 2 cups sugar


  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice



Instructions

Step 1


In a large pot, combine the mashed strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.


Step 2


Reduce the heat and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the jam thickens.


Step 3


test the jam by placing a small spoonful on a cold plate; if it wrinkles slightly when pushed, it's ready.


Step 4


Remove from heat and pour the jam into sterilized jars. Seal and let cool. store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
