Right, let me tell you about these rum balls—absolute game-changers! I’ve tried making them with chocolate graham crackers and vanilla wafers before, but they just didn’t hit the mark. Then, boom—Oreos! Genius, right? Just strip out the filling and use those gorgeous chocolate cookies to whip up the most delicious rum balls ever.
Prep Time: 20 mins | Total Time: 20 mins | Serves: 36
Ingredients
One package (about 3 cups crushed) separated oreo cookies
¼ cup dark rum
¼ cup light rum
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup powdered sugar
cocoa, sprinkles, and/or icing sugar for coating the rum balls
Instructions
Step 1
Using a knife, carefully remove the cream filling from the Oreos and discard or reserve for another use. Place the cookie halves into the bowl of a food processor fitted with the blade attachment. Pulse until the cookies are finely crushed.
Step 2
While the processor is running, add the vanilla extract and half of the rum. Check the consistency of the mixture— it should be firm and cohesive. Continue to add the rum, a little at a time, until the mixture forms a smooth ball that travels easily around the bowl with the blade. If the mixture becomes too wet, incorporate a small amount of icing sugar or additional crushed cookies to achieve the desired texture.
Step 3
Once the mixture is fully combined, use your hands to shape it into about 1-inch balls. Roll each ball in cocoa powder, icing sugar, or sprinkles, depending on your preference.
